Long haired star
Rare visitor
You come from the edge,
The final frontier
Traversing our solar system.
Unlike shooting stars,
Blink and you miss them,
You make your presence known
over days and nights,
You slice the skies with your light.
We gaze in awe,
Wonder,
Used to be horror
Your fiery plume
A harbinger of doom.
It’s no coincidence your bright tail,
Illuminates the heavens
In a time of panic,
Global pandemic.
Then you’ll be gone,
No longer will you be seen suspended
Above global landmarks
from the pyramids to Stonehenge,
Your reign will end,
As you depart
for regions unknown.
Celestial friend,
It’ll be thousands of years
before eyes will see you again.
